Hi there! I’m Tej. You are in the right place if you are planning to relocate to the UK or have recently landed in the UK from Dubai. Raising Indian kids in the UK is no joke. It all seems to look very easy from the outside. But there are many challenges and roadblocks which only a person living it will know.

When I moved with my family from Dubai to the UK in 2021, I quickly realised something. Parenting teens in a new country is less like a “change of scenery.” It is more like a total “software update” for your life. The kids were navigating GCSEs. My spouse was starting a new role. I was learning how the 11+ school system actually works. In addition, I was working on reclaiming my own professional identity in a land where I didn’t yet have a “village.”

Why I started this blog

I created this space to be the “digital coffee date” I wish I had when I first arrived. Moving as a dependent spouse often feels like being a supporting character in someone else’s story. But I believe this transition is your greatest opportunity to rewrite your own narrative.

I also include finding the best local places to go in London and navigating the “Winter Blues.” We talk about the hard stuff. This includes the isolation, the “judgy” comments, and the patience it takes to build a new life.
